College student gang-raped while out with boyfriend in Dhaka

Bhatara police station said that the girl, a higher secondary student of a local college, went out with her boyfriend (17) on March 8 at around 11 am.

At one point, they went to a flat on the second floor of Philip Villa in Nayanagar. There, the boyfriend raped the girl by promising her marriage. Later, he took 1,000 taka from her purse and left.

Bhatara Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Emaul Haque told Prothom Alo that after her boyfriend left, a friend of hers entered the room and told the girl that he had recorded the rape incident. He also raped the girl after threatening to spread the video on social media.

Police said that when the girl returned home after the incident, her relatives came to know about it. After discussing what to do, a case was filed at midnight on Saturday under the Prevention of Violence against Women and Children and the Pornography Control Act.

OC Emaul Haque said that immediately after the case was filed, the police launched a drive to arrest the accused. Two teenagers involved in the rape incident were arrested from the B-Block area of ​​Saidnagar in Bhatara around 5:30 am on Sunday.

Police said that the two teenagers will be produced in court on Monday. At the same time, the victim will be sent to the One-Stop Crisis Center of Dhaka Medical College Hospital for examination of evidence of rape. Her statement will also be taken to the court at a convenient time.

The police also said that the victim's mother works in a private institution.
