Hope to deepen Bangladesh-Türkiye partnership

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman held a bilateral meeting with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan at the Foreign Minister's Office in Ankara on Saturday evening. This is the first bilateral meeting between the two foreign ministers after the new government in Bangladesh took office.
In the meeting, both sides discussed all aspects of bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Turkey.
In the meeting, Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman highlighted the importance of increasing Turkish investment in Bangladesh and emphasized the potential for expanding the export of skilled human resources from Bangladesh to Turkey.
After the meeting, the two foreign ministers held a joint press conference. In it, they reiterated their commitment to further strengthen the long-standing friendly and brotherly relations between the two countries. The two Foreign Ministers also exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest and expressed their joint commitment to work together in support of peace efforts in Gaza.
During the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Diplomatic Academy of Turkey and the Bangladesh Foreign Service Academy to enhance diplomatic training and institutional capacity and cooperation between the two countries.
The Turkish Foreign Minister hosted an iftar and dinner in honor of the Bangladesh delegation. The commitment to maintain friendly relations between the two countries was also reaffirmed there. In this context, Turkey expressed its support for Bangladesh's candidacy for the presidency of the upcoming session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman will leave Turkey for New York on an official visit.
